The Felon Didnt Win The Race
Sad day for American politics. One month removed from his felony convictions for taking money and not telling no suckers who need to mind their own business, Stevens falls. Democrats take another seat and Harry Reid drinks an Appletini somewhere to celebrate. The real story is most definitely not the possibility of a Democrat fillibuster proof majority in the Senate (because eventually Al Franken will lose, I mean, come on). The real story is that the American Dream died a little bit last night. There are a lot of things ill in this country, but Felon in the Senate ain’t on that list. What kid doesn’t dream that one day when he is in a position of some power, or at least the thought of potential policy making, that he’ll take some cash, maybe illegally, band it and stick it, maybe, in a freezer or just some well maintained bank accounts. Then, when that World comes crashing down, that kid will turn to the American people for Redemption. Today, America turned a blind eye to those who seek that salvation. In the end, what did Ted Stevens in was that he was a member of the Republican Party where they are a bit more, “Hey, man, don’t waste that money on your friends.” The American Dream would still be alive for Stevens today if he walked with those too afraid of their own shadow to punish Joe Lieberman. If Stevens were a Democrat today he’d be re-elected and walk around with a bit more, as the youth say, street cred. He’d brag about being untouchable, do a quick stint in Jail, then come out ready to collect. That’s how the corruption spreads, you leave it unpunished. He’d keep kickin’ that federal money back to his friends and they’d keep building extensions to his house. |

OBAMA WINS THE PRESIDENTAL ELECTION
Barack Obama is the new President Elect of the United States of America. The election seemed to be over before it started. CNN could have called the election after Obama won Pennsylvania but decided to keep the lights on just to see how bad the ass whipping was gonna be. One thing I could say about John Mccain is that his best speech was his last speech. Where was that John Mccain throughout the election. He spoke elequently and graciously. Had this man been in the election the entire time he would have given Barack a run for his money. Barack came out to more than 200,000 loyal voters in Chicago and addressed the anxious crowd. He thanked them for their support, embraced his role as new President elect and began galvanizing this country. |

The presidential race between Barack Obama and John McCain is now even at 42 percent, according to a new CBS News poll conducted Monday-Wednesday of this week. Twelve percent are undecided according to the poll, and one percent said they wouldn't vote. This is in contrast to a poll conducted last weekend, where the Obama-Biden ticket led McCain-Palin by eight points, 48 percent to 40 percent. McCain has also closed the enthusiasm gap some with Obama, but it still exists. Fifty-five percent of Obama's supporters are enthusiastic about their choice, and now so are 35% of McCain's. Last weekend, just 25 percent of McCain's supporters were enthusiastic about him, compared to 67 of Obama's supporters. |
